Letter to Mr Burt

Dear Mr Burt,

I am writing to you because Room 10 would like to plant some Harakeke\flax around the school. Because flax bushes will often support a large community of native birds, and also it provides shelter and food resources for them. The Harakeke is also known for weaving, so if girls are good at braiding then we can definitely weave! So here are two areas that I want to plant my Harakeke\flax.

  1. HI Eden,
Harakeke is one of my favourite plants. I like the way the leaves branch off in all directions. I also like the fact that lots of birds come and eat the nectar in the flowers.
What do you think you would weave out of the harekeke?
