Time Travel

Some years ago there was a boy named Becker who was wanting to be a Mad Scientist when he grew up. Becker’s parents worked a lot to earn money. He lived in a small house with an old underground lair that used to be his Dad’s, he cleaned it up then made the lair his laboratory for making inventions.

The invention Becker had been wanting to make is Time Travel He started to plan his invention.

The next morning there was a knock at the door, “Coming” shouted Becker. Then he opened the door and it was a robot from the IYSC the robot said “Here is an invitation to the International Youth Science Convention in 3 months time you will also be judged”.

So Becker thought if he could make Time Travel in time of the Convention. So he got straight to it. A month later Becker had finished making Time Travel he tested it by going to the future but then “Oh no!” shouted Becker. He then found out that if you jump into the Future you will come back presen double the age.

So he went to the past and came back his normal age. Only because it is impossible to have the power to Time Travel. So Becker destroyed his invention then denied to go to IYSC, Becker was heartbroken but he was always remembered as a hardworking boy who never gave up. The End

Marathon

Thousands and thousands of years ago the Ancient Greeks were at war with the Persians. The battle was held at a place called Marathon. Near the end of the battle, the Greeks began to get tired, but still fought on and won.

After the battle Pheidippides was sent by his Boss to go to Athens the capital of Greece. Running over Mountains, walking through valleys with no food or water, Pheidippides ran 42.2 km to Athens.

Sprinting Pheidippides got to Athens and went to the King and said “ Joy we won! ”. Terribly dehydrated, a few moments later he fell on the ground and died.

The Olympic Torch

... ceremony-olympic flame.jpg

The Ancient Greeks started the tradition of having an Olympic flame in Olympia. A sacred flame is lit by the sun's rays and stays alight until the games have ended. The flame symbolized a request for protection from Zeus and the athletes’ struggles for victory.

The modern flame symbolizes the light of the spirit, knowledge and life. To this day, the torch is still lit in Olympia in Greece, then carried by a relay team, passing runner to runner until it reaches the host-city of the games. There, the cauldron will be lit and stay alight until the closing ceremony.

Ancient Olympics

The Olympics began over two and a half thousand years ago in ancient Greece. In those days Greece was made up of several different states including Athens, Sparta and Corinth and they were often at war with each other. But when the games were on they held a truce. This great event was held at a place called Olympia and this is why the games are called the Olympics.

They were held once every four years in  honour of Zeus, lord of all the Gods. Eventually the ancient Olympics were abolished by the Roman Emperor Theodosus the First who was christian and didn’t like the games because they were dedicated to a pagan God. But the Olympics were always remembered as a symbol of human achievement and peace.

Pavilion Swimming

Under the water at the Glen Innes swimming pools on a Monday, me and my class had to learn how to swim. Diving into warm water I freestyle back and forth to the island and back. I love to swim because it is good for my safety at the beach or in a deep pool.

My Trip to Te Tuhi

First thing in the Morning we split into two groups. The First Group that went got on the bus to Te Tuhi didn’t make that much noise, when the first group got to Te Tuhi we lined up in two lines to go inside. As soon as we walked in Te Tuhi there was a metal Teepee and there was a smoke machine that made fake smoke. While Jeremy the man that took us to the Art Gallery. Our task was to make a flying house, with only two shapes Squares and three sorts of Triangles.

Edens Geomentry Garden

In my garden my flowers have Rotational Symmetry

This means that when you rotate your object it will have an order of 4 and it will look the same.

In my garden my butterfly has Reflective Symmetry

This means that when you look at both of the wings they will look the same. The other thing is that a butterfly has a line of  Symmetry in between the two wings such as other objects.

In my garden my pathway shows Tessellation

To make my pathway I used Triangles

This means that when you repeat the same shape you get a pattern. Tessellation is repeating shapes to make a pattern that have no gaps

My Dream Bedroom

The 6 Thinking Hats

How I feel about my artwork or the whole process.
Creating my artwork work was loads  of fun at first I had to draw on my Maths Book then we had to copy it off all our ideas on a big piece of pap. In the middle of the whole process I felt frustrated because my detail was too small to paint, so I dyed instead.
What did I enjoy most of all or what was the best thing about my painting.
The thing I enjoyed the most about my painting is that even though my detail was small. But I still got through all those challenges about my painting.
What did I find hard or I didn’t like.
The thing I didn’t like about my painting was that I didn’t get to paint I had to dye.
The other thing I didn’t quite enjoy was that my painting took for qutie a long time.
How can I do my art better next time?
The thing I can do better is keeping my detail a lot bigger. The other thing I found hard was my outlines, in my picture there are small smudges that ruins the picture.
What was the most interesting thing I did or my friends did.
The most interesting thing in my piece of art is that I put the Colosseum, London Eye, Eiffel Tower, The Great Wall of China and the London Clock in my picture. I did these buildings because throughout this term we have been learning all about important buildings around the world.
What did I learn most about
The thing I learnt most about my painting is to not give up when you are stuck. The other thing I learnt about my painting is to follow your insticts.

Fiafia

Being an Audience: Sitting on the cold and rocky ground I eagerly wait for my group to perform, I support my friends and whanau in their fantastic performances. Hearing the loud noise I start to shake because the music is as  loud as a ten speakers at Pt England School. Watching the lights and the people sing and dance all together I just really awesome.

My Feelings: As I practice at the back of the stage I close my eyes and thought about who I am dancing for and why.  I am proud to deliver  to people what Fiafia is all about. The food , cool performances and the great costumes. I was exhilarated to perform on stage.

The Frog and the Cricket

The slimy green frog was hungry for lunch and wanted a small cricket to eat.  The frog continued to reach his tongue near the cricket for some food. So he reached out towards the cricket so he just ate it up he grinned all of a sudden.

The Frosty Man and the BMX kid

Jumping off a cliff, the boy hit the lake like an asteroid  hitting into the earth. So  he twisted down  off the cliff the boy yelled  “Into the water I go!’’ and. Splash!. The boy  came out of the lake smiling but very soaking wet.

Our Powhiri

The New Zealand Flag

New Zealand needs to stand out even when we represent ourselves in sports games, People also struggle because they think we are Australian.Because blue represents the pacific ocean and sky and because the fern represents usn sports too. We need the new flag that stands out. Because we can not have a flag that is similar to the  Australian flag and half the Commonwealth.

I think we shouldn’t change the flag because the flag also presents the Men and Women that died in world war 1 and 2. The Southern cross is like the day Jesus died that is why we put the Southern Cross on the flag and because it is special to us and in our hearts. My friends opinion was not to change the New Zealand  flag because there will be too much hassle and everybody will have to change their  passports, licences and people has to make more logos of the new flag.

The Blob

One day I went to The Blob and I silently waited in line. Waiting in line my heart started to pound so hard I almost fainted.  It was terrifying watching other people going across the blob waiting for the person to jump I can not imagine what it would feel like. I said “Would I make it out alive?”  It was time for the person in front to have a turn, it was insane I then bellowed “Good luck” then all of a sudden BOING!! There goes a person jumping through the air this is awesome. It was time for me to crawl into the middle of the lake on to the blob. Three, two, one, up I go screaming through the clouds it was like I was a giant weeeeeee! Splash! Into the water I go I was glad it was over.

Rollercoaster

Rollercoaster.jpg I have never been more Terrified, than when I stood looking up at the monstrosity.  But I bravely stepped forward. Until today I had never been more scared in my  life.

Listening to the screaming from the people in front of me, turned my stomach. “There are butterflies in my tummy” I said  quietly. It seemed like the line went forever, I wanted to get this over with.

Closing my eyes, I wished over and over again that the ride would soon end. Would we make it alive?. Roaring and soaring through the sky we tumbled and twisted.

Waitangi

As the crowd gathers under a proud flagpole, the people in the crowd celebrate our nation by watching the Kapa Haka Performance. As the people watch, islands dot our Harbour, the view is magnificent.
